Hash It Out is here as a resource for consumers who take an interest in the future of the cannabis industry. We are currently at a crossroads where it is more important than ever to make informed decisions about which companies to support with our hard earned dollars. In a landscape where quality is no longer a distinguishing factor, how do we as consumers decided who’s products to buy? Hash It Out is a series of conversations that dig into the bigger questions around how a business is effecting the future of cannabis, what values they model, and why they do what they do.
Micayla Harland has been been in and around the cannabis industry since 2004. Originally from Winnipeg, Canada, she has long ties to the medical cannabis industry where she first entered in a non-paid capacity linking up patients and growers. Her passion for the industry runs deep while maintaining a focus on the long term future of cannabis as a global industry. She believes deeply that if we do the leg work up front to bake our core values and ethics into this industry at a foundational level, then we stand a chance to influence adjacent industries in following a more conscious form of capitalism. Before moving to Eugene, Oregon in 2016 she spent 5 years working in the global agricultural business sector. Armed with this experience, she has a broad perspective of what the many futures of cannabis could be and is working to help move it in a positive direction.
In addition to being passionate about cannabis, Micayla enjoys a myriad of activities. She lives in the Pacific North West, taking full advantage of the wonderland that it is. Life is made for enjoying. Her philosophy in life is to always be playing.
